The Woman Behind the Voice

I came out as a trans women in January 2019, and at the time I was still working for the BBC as a senior operations (broadcast) engineer and shift leader, and I was very fortunate that my colleagues were accepting of me, as I am aware this is not always the case, and it can lead to some coming out as trans or non-binary having no option but to resign their place of work.

Needless to say all my relations were totally accepting of me, as were my oldest friends, for the most part.

My transition journey did have a few bumps along the way, such as failing to pass an interview to stay in my role as a shift leader, which I felt left me with no option but to resign.

Initially I was at a loss as what to do, and my confidence had taken a bit of a knock, then through my therapy sessions with my psychotherapist, Dr Kenneth Demsky, I gradually came the to realisation that I wished to share my thoughts about being transgender, and so decided to begin the Podcast, Trans Wise Trans Strong, in February 2025.

If you would like to know more about me, you may be interested in the episodes, "A Journey of Transition: Carolyne's Story", parts 1 to 3.

Love and best wishes Carolyne
